Article Berlin. Conn.—Over 150 people gathered at the Hawthorne Inn Restaurant here to pay tribute to their colleagues for outstanding achievement in the floor covering industry in Connecticut as part of the Connecticut Floor Covering Association’s (CFCA) 7th Annual Awards Night.

The event was also the site of four individuals being honored for Lifetime Achievement. Edward Friedman from Friedman Floor Covering, Albert Hamrah from Hamrah Rug, David Macinnis from Daltile and Richard Repoli from D&D Tile were recognized “for the long term commitment and devotion they have showed to the floor covering business both through the hard work in their respective businesses and the industry as a whole.”

Leslie Boyko, CFCA’s president noted both Hamrah and Repoli were past presidents of CFCA and, through the years, “have done many things to benefit everyone.”

The Person of the Year award went to Nicholas Damato of Damato Carpet. The award for Outstanding Service by a Mill or Distributor Representative was given to John Cipriano of Belknap White Distributors. Awarded for Excellence in Retail Store Design/Layout was Wallingford Flooring Gallery.

The following awards were also presented:

• Excellence in Residential Ceramic—D&D Tile Co. for The Spectre Residence installed by Rich Repoli;
• Excellence in Commercial Ceramic—Spectrum Floors for the Stratford Fire House;
• Excellence in Residential Carpet—Troy Hayden for Elm Manor;
• Excellence in Commercial Carpet—Spectrum Floors for The Burning Tree installation;
• Excellence in Residential Resilient—Cook & Kozlak Flooring Center for the Wilson Residence installed by Geff Hahn;
• Excellence in Commercial Resilient—Spectrum Floors for the Truman School;
• Excellence in Residential Wood/ Laminate—Ultimate Interiors for the Clare Residence installed by Chris Hebert;
• Excellence in Commercial Wood/ Laminate—Dalene Flooring Carpet One for the Central Connecticut State University Gymnasium. The salesperson was Bill King and the installation was done by Rich Dalene, Chris Bohan, Pete Gonzalez, Jim Rice, Luke Troxler and Todd LaCasse, and
• Professionalism in Installation —Milton Wiggins, Larry Morse and John Mantello.
