Article Las Vegas—Prefinished hardwood flooring producer Mirage recognized three distributors with its annual Spirit Awards at a ceremony earlier this year. The award winners are Mirage distributors that have demonstrated the most effective results in training, merchandising and sales growth. This year, the ceremony featured a silent auction to raise funds for The Ryan Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding research and supporting those with mucopolysaccharidosis, or MPS I.

The 2005 winners of the Spirit awards are:

• Hoboken Wood Floors, Florida division - Most Effective Results in Training. In 2005, Hoboken Wood Floors of Florida was recognized for its focus on the entire Mirage line, including merchandising and training. The company provided consistent local training for many new dealers, supplemented by the Mirage plant tour program. Their excellent follow up with dealers and focus on comprehensive training resulted in significant growth of the Mirage business;

• Superior Products - Most Effective Results in Merchandising. Superior Products won its third Spirit award in 2005, following its wins in the merchandising and sales growth categories in 2003 and 2004, respectively. The company is a consistent top performer and is recognized for its complete support of the Mirage Maestro Dealer Program and for its geographic expansion, and

• Alberta Hardwood Flooring - Most Effective Results in Sales Growth. Alberta Hardwood Flooring earned its second Spirit award this year, following its receipt of the first ever Spirit award for training in 2003. The company consistently supports the entire Mirage program, and its efforts have yielded a sales force that is committed, focused and well-trained.

“Our wholsalers work hard throughout the year to provide the expertise and service that complement the quality of Mirage flooring,” said Pierre Thabet, president of Boa-Franc, the parent company of Mirage. “It is important that we recognize our top performers and thank them for contributing to our success. We incorporated the benefit for The Ryan Foundation into the awards ceremony to bring the spirit of our entire organization together to benefit a cause that touches us deeply.”

To raise funds for The Ryan Foundation, Mirage auctioned off memorabilia from famous professional athletes, including: a golf putter signed by Jack Nicklaus; a tennis shoe from Maria Sharapova; a jersey from Patrick Roy of the Colorado Avalanche; a boxing glove from Laila Ali; and a baseball bat from Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers, among others.

The Ryan Foundation was formed in 1992 after Ryan Dant was diagnosed with MPS Type I. His parents formed the organization after being told that Ryan would likely not survive past his 10th birthday. Today, Ryan is 17 thanks to the relentless effort of his parents and others who contributed time and money to fund research and support for those touched by the disease. The event raised $21,000.
