Tarkett fiber floors

I have a job coming up where the subfloor is is really bad shape. Concrete. hump in the middle, wavy, sloped drain in the corner (fairly steep slope, probably 2 inches in an 18 inch diameter). I can deal with the body of the floor. I just wonder what I can do with the drain. I plan on lessening the slope. But they want some slope there. This is a residence, older home. And they want to float it, not adhere. Adhering would be a lot more prep than already there.

Any thoughts on the drain? How to get it to conform to the slope?

Haven't done the job so no pix.
Think IVC or Sobella.

tarkett really is the leader at the moment in this type of floors though.

I was thinking of using the 'X' mentality on the drain. Like We are supposed to do under the appliances.

any thoughts???

Barry,
is this the one you don't have to glue? loose lay? call me,
they have listen to all the wrong people say all the wrong things on
claims,
the last one I did, they tried to tell me the vinyl did not move,
expand or contract, they said the house shrank,,,,in warm weather!
call or talk to us here, what are the installation instructions,

Job's going in about 2 1/2 weeks. I call you between now and then.
They want to loose lay this job. Tarkett has no limits on the size of the job loose laid. this is only about 20 - 25 yards. A laundry room, 2 appl. drain is on the far, back corner of the room beside the washer.

I was thinkin of usin the 'X' thing that most of these products want under the appls.

or....since one side can be fastened, ....fastening the last 2 feet (including the drain) and floating the rest.

?????

no,
if loose laid, can't lock it in anywhere, heck, can't even have
heavy things on it!
I am serious, I have seen the double sided tape used, and claims
denied,,,,
then, one time, they told me no heavy objects,
another time, the room shrank, and vinyl does not shrink or
expand, when confronted with FACTS, they just paid me but no
more claims from them,
did they say anything about if you have floor vents, you have to
full spread it? if not, air will blow up under it and you got
problems,
I was told, the amount of space or yardage is limited, make sure
about that,,,
told no more than one seam, and no seams at doors,
told you have to acclimate, then told you don't, they told yes,
you have to acclimate,,
Tarkett has had nothing but trouble with this product,,,,heck,
since I don't do any work for them for telling the truth, and since
I never could keep my big mouth shut, guess it is too late now
to worry about a lost account! Smile

call Tarkett tech to make sure,
I am wrong a lot,,,,this stuff has been a nightmare for me
inspecting,,,
they changed so many "requirements" each time I looked at one,
ask about length, square footage, how many seams, seaming at
doorways running continuous thru house or rooms,
locking in anywhere or heavy appliances on them,,,,ask them to
fax it all to you on their letterhead,,,just want you to cover
yourself,
slt

I have installed this floor quite a bit.
It went from a loose lay vinyl to tape down vinyl to apeach glue vinyl.
I personally like the stuff it is very durable I will advise it over other vinyls in its class.
Think about the installers choice stuff from Domco, this much heavier.

On of my guys dropped a tool and put dig in the wealayer I filled with a touch of patch, and sealed over no problem no see.

I will use the X tape method as Selva said I have had very good luck with it.
Just do not over tighten your metals or cut it to tight to the base. I leave at least 1/8 from the walls.

Is this stuff fuzz on top? It says "carpet like" so that reminds me of that stuff that was sold a long time ago...Ozite? Ozite with a cushion?

I loved installing Ozite.

Nope, I used to be in the resilient groove years ago. I did all the vinyl for 3 Color Tile stores in town, plus Standard Brands and a couple others.

No one wanted to pay for proper prep and even if they did none of them could figure it out anyway.

Of all flooring products...

Barry,

Of all the flooring products on the market, I believe resilient/vinyl is the most 'unforgiving'of them all.

I imagine floorprep is more vital with this product than with any other. Kudos to you for mastering this trade...

I'd like to hear how your going to do the drain and float it at the same time. Wouldn't you have to seal the drain to flooring somehow?

You can buy speciality wide round drain cover that are 12" wide.

Going to CA for a church convention next week. The job is in about 2 1/2 weeks. I'll fine tune what needs to be done when I get back to Boise.

But I do plan on putting some type of drain cover on.
