It's sad

Most stores and installers in this area will not install the fibre glassed backed floors unless they can fully adhere them.

A store that I install for set up a meeting with the area sales rep and Tarkett's area rep.

I was the only installer to show.....and I gave the reps pointers (some from you guys). I was the only proponent of loose laying which is why my presence was requested.

The only up side is that I will probably get all the glass backed jobs they sell. Big Smile

Just curious...

How many installers work for this dealer?

One out of seven...

Barry,

This perhaps exemplifies more than anything why the state of the installation sector is in such sad shape.

What were some of the things these no-shows missed out on?

Loose lay is the only way I will install it. I see no advantage to gluing it down.

Nothing new. The cost advantages of not having to prep as much, no yardage limits on Tarkett's floating systems, thier new seam tape for floating applications, the importance of not 'locking it down anywhere with anything.
Really pretty much just the basics.

Can't help but think...

Maybe basic to you, Barry.

I can't help but think that much of what was discussed would have been the first time those no-shows would have heard those things.Big Smile

By basic, I mean that they pretty much covered the install points included in each cut of their floating products.
It's basically just a tip sheet.

Too many of those seminars just go over evrything you can read online or on the basic install guidelines and do not get into the nitty gritty details we really want to know. Thats why no one shows up.
The man never wants to tell you what has been going south on them when people are doing it line by line and it fails.

But this was not set up as a seminar. It was supposed tobe a Q & A session for those who had problems or failures.
It was an early AM schedule.
