Its not the whole house unless your installing the whole house. Thats usually not the case. Most of the time it is a room or three.

I have the consumer buy portable humidifiers and or bring in one or two I own. Then after I leave I take them with me and its their problem after that.
My house has been running 30 t0 32% rh lately. Not bad with no humidifier going.

32%?
Wow... That is low.

I'm now comfortable when it gets down to 55%..

Actually 32% is great for here. I don't know why my house is higher than the average ones I have tested, but it is. So...have been running my radio shack thermohygrometer for weeks now since that one trafficmaster inspection where the rh was 5%. I have never gone lower than 28%. I double check it with my other tramex thermohygrometer now and then. The difference is usually 1 to 3 % between the two meters.

Ray, being near the water in Tampa...

Ray,

What is your average humidity reading during these hot months?

Ever get a reading over 60%?

David,
Commonly find 45% to 65% RH levels in the homes.

During august I find 70% and 80% at times, especially in the Water Front Condo's and Manufactured homes.

Funny thing.. I've not once Tested the RH in my own home.
We have carpet and Ceramic tile, no wood based products.

The US agriculture rept did extensive rh testing of homes and causes of high rh. The website has an article on it.

I find it odd mine is reletively higher than others around town. I have mostly wood and run AC. My house could easily be brought into the manufactures window of 35 to 65% rh with a single humidifier I think. Anyone have a formula for that and square footage?
