I had a nice video on manufacturing tufted carpet and there was a section about staple. I can't for the life of me remember who I sent it to. But the machine looked like it would blend them quite well. Did you encounter a side to side texture difference on a carpet?

Dude, I hear ya about the loss of Larry and you guys are still in my thoughts.
Imagine the way they measure and mix staple yarns as a recipe. It can change a little, like mom's home made spaghetti sauce, or the way the mills prefer, mixed by their recipe like the way Hostess mixes Twinkey batter the same every time. You know so that if you were frozen and woke up in 3033 your next Twinkey would be just like the one you had before being frozen in 2008.
Bottom line, if you mix exactly the same stuff, you will have the exact same product.
Same holds true for glues and adhesives. Which is why true adhesive failures happen so rarely.
