| 3/4/2008 6:39:38 PM Someone spoke of patterns
In that thread, someone told how we should make one cut from the inside of the roll, because he claims--and probably rightly so--, that the pattern is smaller at the beginning of the roll and he explains how the last of the roll, the pattern will be larger.
The person speaking didn't say the mills could control that, but it likely can.
To control the size of the pattern from beginning to end, the operator could always learn to use tension to keep the pattern better sized. No, not perfect, but the more operators practice to make better the tiny details, the more the operator will enjoy doing his job and as he teaches others, as well as his/her children, he/ she will know how to teach all those tiny details, making each generation smarter---but if they don't,--then they will teach each generation to be dumber, helpers, mates, friends and children.
So, what is business teaching?
Like I said in another thread, no one seems to care, so it seems to me America and her children are a lost cause.
More and more I should just mind my own business, because if I don't, they will kill me.

Oh yes, the person telling installers to do such, didn't take into consideration how not only pattern can change, but how all carpets vary from one side of the roll to the other AND, from one end to the other--how color, pattern, texture and more can change.
He never specified all the things necessary to be able to do such, nor did he clarify how many jobs others couldn't do it on.
He didn't bother saying if the job might be checked by an inspector and if the cuts from one roll to the next are out of order, how the installer could be blamed.
You know, little details like that.

If anyone gives out such info, a phone number should be given with it, so installers can ask about each pattern match specifically.
Call all the reps for the mills and see how many answers you get.
