Nice site Ray. The industry has needed resources like this for quite a while now.
FloorBiz I see is affiliated with Lew Migliore from LGM and Associates. I've read Lews columns on FloorBiz as well as his claims reports in the Technical Section.
Lew is perhaps the most respected inspector and claims specialist in the entire industry. He conducts training seminars on a regular basis, including one this week on Concrete Moisture Issues.
Sites like these (and yours) are always going to do well- due to the nature of flooring and flooring-related issues.
Nice job!

Yes, I know Mr. Migliore. He worked with us at the Inspectors Association and spoke at two of our Conventions in Dalton. He even has a sense of humor.
Having been in retail as an owner, and fortunate enough to sell the business, the need to service our customers rapidly and honorably is key to good reputation and expanding customer base.
Rather than wait for the manufacturer to commission the inspector and wait for their paper process, Retailers hiring the inspectors are finding faster turn-around and ability to speak to the inspector to obtain ideas on how to best service the consumer.
Manufacturers re-imburse the fee when the inspector finds a manufacturing related problem leaving the cost minimul to the retailer.
Best way to go is to work directly with the inspection community and work with the inspector of your choice.
We are seeing more retailers take this road and being happy they did. Good Retailers want to know the problem and how to solve it, not just know if the complaint is related to manufacturing or not (only).

Working directly with inspectors rather than waiting for the manufacturer gives benefits to the dealer. 1. Faster Turn-around for service. 2. Complete report including full information. This may require a bit more exlanation. Inspectors hired by manufacturers are asked to inspect for product defects only. They are to give the manufacturer a report answering the question "Is there a product defect, or not". This Warranty Inspection does not define the problem or give detailed report that can aid in resolving the problem. These inspections do not determine the the cause or offer help in servicing the Consumers Complaint.
Working directly with the inspection community gives the dealer opportunity to service his customers rapidly, determine the problem and service the complaint. Should the inspector find a manufacturing defect, the manufacturer credits the the cost of the inspection. Most manufacturers would much prefer the dealer hire the inspector.
At FloorReports.com, you can find the inspectors in your area and view their Curriculum Vitae and compare credentials all in one spot.
Thank you,

| 2/25/2008 3:11:26 PM Mark Brown, NOFMA inspector has article
A Hardwood Flooring Magazine has Mark Brown, the first NOFMA Certified Inspector, with an article concerning this very issue. It is wise for Retailers and Distributors to hire the inspector rather than the manufacturer....
This seems to be the call of the day...

Just so you know.
A retailer from the East Coast called today and has me looking at a Solid Vinyl Plank Failure.
He read the information about hiring the inspector rather than having the manufacturer hire the inspector.
