| 2/1/2008 7:07:36 AM To solve your problem/FI board
Below is your statement.
If you want to understand, come talk to me directly.
Old carpet Posted By TERRY MCNABB on 1/31/2008 at 11:13 PM This roll of carpet has laid in our warehouse for at least 4-5 years. When we did this job the rug started waving (big buckles) that the glue barely had an effect on. No joke I had at least four hours trying to roll this stuff and keep it down! Anyway the rug was really stiff and wrinkles and rolls badly. They want some of this bound to use for displays in the showroom and I don't think it will ever lay down. Have any of you ever experienced this ? and did it ever get any better?

While it's unlikely the person in question will not respond, is it because of group think--he doesn't want to know or is it because as a child he didn't learn the lessons of the --"Teachers pet"--in school?
It seems the vast majority of people go along, to get along--as they limit themselves.
That's ok, that action is seen over all the boards. One can hardly blame him, but then does an entire industry turn its back on knowledge they obviously don't have?

In the first post the man complaining said,--- "No joke I had at least four hours trying to roll this stuff and keep it down! Anyway the rug was really stiff and wrinkles and rolls badly. They want some of this bound to use for displays in the showroom and I don't think it will ever lay down."
Where he posted this piece, he came back the following day and said that it all magically became flat to the floor, with no explanation as to how, why or what the situation proved.
He must think every installer is stupid.
Since I've been a repairman since 93, I have gone on many such jobs exactly as he describes, so I know when it's going to happen and how to handle it.
That's ok, but you limit not only yourself, but the rest of the trade that may want to know.
Of course another installer could have asked--if learning was important.
That carpet didn't go down in the 4 hours you rolled it, so the high points in the carpet would have dried, just as the concrete there, so it would not stick, even if you went back the next day and somehow it miraculously laid flat.
Here's something else to consider. If say some of the flat areas stuck--which some would, then even if he could go back the next day and roll the carpet and it stick, there would be a whole lot of wrinkles held-in by the flat areas adhearing already and he said nothing about that.
If you guys believe you can lie anytime you want, you're gonna get called on it, because some of us don't like being called stupid--for believing your nonsense.

By the way, I purposely mislead some away from the real board. It didn't matter I see.

Now the post where you claimed everything came out just fine was deleated.
Man, there is just no end to the deceptions by some boards and their members.

On a direct gluedown install that has set-up like that, see if you can pull the backing off. If you can, you don't need to replace the backing, just make sure you use enough glue during the installation, to hold it tight and make sure it has 72 hours with no one on it.
When carpet sits like that it dries-out and if it turns yellow on the back, it is really dry.
Normally, carpet down in the south only dries-out when it's in the attic. It could dry-out if it is in a metal building and it gets real hot during the summer for so long or if left in a wharehouse during several winters.
Since no one is going to talk to me, I can't know all I need to know, in reference to other things.
Don't admit to your mistakes, you might remember new things taught to you, like the reason for this thread. I told you about long shots before and why you need more guys on them.
