Bona is pleased to sponsor the Advanced Wood Flooring Installation Class February 10th thru 13th, 2010, at the Bona Regional Training Center in Monroe, NC. The primary focus will be on the design, layout, fabrication and installation of intricate and elaborate designs in wood floors. The course tuition is $1,299.00, which includes hotel for 4 nights and daily lunch and refreshments. Students will provide their own transportation expenses to and from Monroe.
The lead instructor is Howard Brickman who commented, "I have been teaching wood flooring related classes for 30 years. These smaller classes are the most productive teaching and learning environment. We can focus on demonstrating and practicing relatively simple techniques that combine to give exceptional results. I have never taught a class where I didn't learn something new. This is the ideal place to try new things and tools without having to worry about screwing up a real job. And it is fun to take a break from our normal routines. Think of this class as the wood flooring equivalent of an extreme sports vacation. It will be a congenial group of likeminded professionals sharing their knowledge and experience."
The other instructors include Daniel Boone, Powernail Company; Layton Endres, Master's Touch Flooring; Andrew St James, Goodwin Heart Pine; Rick Schultz, Schultz Wood Floors; and John Williams, Mountain Lumber Company. This group represents almost 200 years of quality hands-on experience in the manufacture and installation of custom designed wood floor installations.
The individual skills will be taught by demonstrating the proper techniques followed by extensive student hands-on practice on a room size floor area 12' x 20'. Each team will also be making medallions along with practicing several methods of bending wood design elements. Router patterns and cutting will also be practiced. We will be using standard wood flooring installation tools. Because of the number of advanced techniques that must be demonstrated, there will be little time available for basic instruction. Students should be competent installers who know how to use nailing machines, circular saws, and table saws. You should bring your own hand tools: hammer, chisels, block planes, hand saws, etc.
Class is scheduled from 8am to 5pm each day with the option of using evening sessions in order to keep the training class on schedule. Class size is limited; therefore, space is reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please check class availability by calling Betty Jo Hargrave at 303- 923-6632 or email her at bettyjo.hargrave@bona.com. If paying by check, please make checks payable to: Brickman Consulting. Mail checks to: Bona US, Attn. Betty Jo Hargrave, 2550 South Parker Road, Suite 600, Aurora, CO. 80014
