I called and talked to the people there. I have not read the article. After my recent experience with one association, not NWFA, I am withholding comment on this until I do and I have had some actual experiences with them.
But, I have to say, they, the NWFA, are treating one good friend of mine right. I can't go into details, but after today, and a positive approach, attitude and actions by them, I have to say, they did this man right.

I don't think I got that issue yet for some reason, I did talk to the lady in charge and got some info, I have mixed emotions, I don't like the "control" but I like the educational aspect, I don't like the "editing" of reports but at the same time, reading reports sometimes, I see the need to use the editing as an educational tool, but, as with anything of this nature, there is the potential for abuse because of the complete power/control of such a program without a counter balance agency or association. I think, they should have many different people who don't agree with each other, reviewing, checks and balances sort of set up. I will call if I don't get a copy Monday to have one mailed to me, slt

You can read the mag online Lee. I think it was actually Don Conner who authored that.... page 12 in my issue.

It says they will review each report.... don't see any implications of editing reports.

If someone reads your report, "reviews it" and does not like the content, then sends it back to the author for editing until it says what they want it to say, is that not like editing themselves?
Kinda like if you sent in an article to an editor of a periodical and he edits the content?

The questions you guys should be asking are: 1. who controls the NWFA as far as policy and content. 2. who will be on the committee that will review and continuation of the NOFMA standards 3. who will be on the committees that review the reports? their background 4. how many wood people, and installers, are currently on the NWFA committees? how many are cleaners?
yes, the "cleaners" leadership has been accepted into the NWFA, and I understand, there is some strong dislike from the old wood members about that. I was told it was because of any inspector without wood experience taking the test and going out inspecting wood, that now, proof of experience is required of installation experience or they must attend the installation school.
that will cut back on a lot of guys, and I can gratefully say, the NWFA Certified Professional Division or whatever, have actively been policing inspectors claiming to be NWFA certified who are not, and removing from their rolls any who have failed to continue the education requirements or who did not complete the requirements. Many have been removed from web sites and I understand, there was a threat of a lawsuit if one inspection club did not remove the members claim of NWFA certification,,,just one of those nasty rumors that goes around, but, this one has a ring of truth behind it with the strong push to clean up the certification process, and one lady there is a hero in my opinion for her tireless work in this area.
