No retailers in my area either. I tried to sign up as an inspector, but it would not let me. I e-mailed the admin. and he answered some questions, his name is Aaron.
It would be nice if the installer could defend himself if the retailer gave him a bad rating. That is my concern.

The amount they tell the stores that the installers will work for are not negotiable. Is lower than what I would work for.

OK, here's the skinny on this website. I talked to the owner today in an email. The site is so new he has not had to time to even do anything but put it up on the web.
He just got back from working with the web designers and working on more educational stuff to add. You enter your price for the services you do. No one tells you what you can charge.
The owner will start marketing it in January of '09. So look forward to seeing paid advertising of it soon. Maybe even here on floorbiz and trade magazines.
For now its just there doing its own thing I think its a great idea. From what I here there are other websites working on a rescource list of installers as well, without any retailers being involved.
Peace!

Hugh, its a little different in that installerpool.com charges the retailer not the installer.
He also got run off that "other" site as well. So dont feel like the lone ranger there buddy.

The installer still pays for it, who are you kidding. If that retailer pays one extra dime the installer bears the burden.
How are things in helltown I have not bothered to stop by and listen to the whining.
