Each manufacturer keeps data bases on claims. Who files them. What are the results. Who did the inspection. And, there is a "code" for the issues. In other words, the manufacturers can see how many claims against them inspectors "call" by looking at the data bases.
I would like to hear your ideas about this practice. Is there is an implied or sometimes open intimation of inspectors by this practice? Sometimes inspectors are reminded this can be "done" to check on them by stating industry figures the manufacturers say is a percentage of manufacturing claims vs. installation vs. abuse or maintenance issues. I have never heard where those numbers come but many of us have blindly accepted them in the past. I have no reason to doubt them but, such statements should have a source to confirm.
What are your thoughts?
