Curriculum Vitae

Why do I keep seeing inspectors using CFI Carpet Inspector on their curriculum vitae Ray?

CFI is not a certification body for inspections is it not?

A C.V. is a list of Credentials.
CFI is only for installation, but does certify Installation Inspections...

It's just another Credential and a good credential. Jim and his crew do a great job of keeping us up to date on the latest issue concerning installation.

But;; it is not an Inpection Certification... only "installation" certification.

It will not qualify somebody as an inspector although some Services are using CFI guys. Quest Is not participating in the practice and FloorReports does not accept CFI as a "certification body".

Just have seen it used a couple times like it was a certification of sorts. Specifically it says of one guy in my area code "CFI Certified Carpet Inspector".

It is also in my C.V.

Just another credential to add to the list that is only meaningful to those useing inspectors.

When you go to court, the attorneys and judges "measure" the testifying experts. The bigger the dollar exposure, the importance of "size" matters.

I think its being a tad bit liberal on the use of the word "certified", but thats just my opinion.

It takes time...

I would imagine that it takes time for any association or company (that wants to be in the inspection business) to be completely recognized as a 'Certification Body' for inspectors.

They may begin by being used and recognized by an obscure carpet mill or other manufacturer and as word and reputation spreads, more accounts are added until one day, they are well known in the industry as a respected Inspection source.

CFI with their reputation, will have no problem (if they want to be a Certification Body) establishing themselves as such.

CFI would have no problem and it has been considered.

They currently certify "installation for the inspector". Worthwhile course to take.
The problem is they show how badly bowed and skewed carpet can be installed and completed without the bow and skew present.
They took carpet over 2" out and made it work.

Well then, I should go with Roland and get me one of those. It would look good on my resume.

all training looks good on your resume.... All certs, whether you believe in them or not, look good.

Did a court case today and did not have to testify......... The other side did not prove their case so our side asked for a judgement without putting up a defense and the judge agreed that nothing was proven, so our side won.
But that is a case I can put in the win column and it will look good because I was the expert in that case...
now ain't that somethin'?
