Look, with so varied as our backgrounds are, there is no way we will agree with everything discussed. Even so, we should communicate as if we were sitting across the table from the person we are posting to.
For instance, if we disagree with a point that someone has made, why not preface our rebuttal by saying something like:
1. I see your point, however I... 2. I understand how you feel, but from my experience... 3. That's an interesting way to look at it, but have you ever considered... 4. Thank you for sharing that thought with me, but might there be another...
Any approach such as these will dis-arm someone who might be very opinionated, and will keep the discussion civil and cordial.
Just something for us all to think about.
