Gallup's hiring measure suggests that the government will likely report Thursday that four-week average jobless claims hit a new high as 2008 came to a close -- exceeding the previous 2008 high of 558,000. That does not include all the people who gave up looking for work or independntly employed people like you and me.
However....my phone started ringing off the hook as I suspected it would after the new year.

Many people who don't have unemployment coming, don't go to employment offices. In Missouri, those offices are a joke. They never have jobs to send anyone out to apply for.

You know, that is just not right. Sometimes, if you pay for it, you should be able to get it if there is no work in the area.

We work to make a living and if we need halp it's not there but if a new tax come up we will be paying it. Some times it just don't pay

We can't file here in VA either. I heard that Massachusetts allows it.
