Anyone gone through this training course? Detroit is the last stop of the year for this training course. I have already signed up and have several friends that have signed up.
Dealing with Bow, Skew, Pattern matching amoung a few.
The agenda looks very full for day 1.
Day 2 is a written and performance test.

Detroit is the last stop for this years classes according to the Patcraft website. You may get some info from Debra at Shaw. 800-471-7429. She is the one that I contacted for this class. She may have info on next years schedule.

We put in the first day today. Learned a trick or two about dealing with bow, skew and elongations.
I'd like to thank the Shaw crew for coming up from Dalton for this.
Special thanks to Bill Richards, Gene Autry, Andy Ingle, Scott Ingle, Gabe Carrell and Paul Carrell. These guys really know their stuff about corrections. I never would have believed that a 3-4 inch bow and skew in 12 feet could actually be corrected. I have heard that they could but now I have seen it first hand.
This just goes to prove that if it's within tolerances they can easily be corrected.
40 guys signed up and I think about 35 showed up.

Roland, they said hi back.
Stephen, the seams looked very good from all directions. In fact Roger Gerber caught part of the pattern that was not quite right and they went back with the double headed crab and fixed it.

Many times when you correct any pattern along the seam...if you stand back and look at the pattern at an angle it runs of and looks awful. But...looking down the seam it's OK.
Try that on an enhancer back. ha ha..One manufacture told me it was possible on enhancer and I said, come show me.
Maybe if you kept in some stay nails and painted the heads to match.  )

Yes Stephen, I agree that there could be some wiggle on the bias, but in this case there was not. I haven't done a lot of enhancer around here so I cannot attest to that.
We had a half day today. Of the 35 guys that showed up I placed second on the written and performance exams.
These guys are good and I would recommend to any installer to take this class when they come to your area. Some have told me that free classes are no always worth the time and to some degree I agree with that, but not in this case. These guys knew their stuff and were very approachable and would answer any question you might have.
They told me that their first stop of the new year will be Houston in January.
