Beaulieu Area Rugs

Beaulieu of America was established in 1978 by Carl and Mieke Bouckaert as a producer of affordable polypropylene oriental rugs. In 1981, Beaulieu became the first manufacturer to produce its own fiber, extruding polypropylene. In the mid-1980s, Beaulieu began to diversify its manufacturing operations, acquiring broadloom manufacturers Conquest and Interloom. This acquisition strategy continued throughout the 1990s with Beaulieu acquisitions of Coronet, Grassmore, Marglen, Columbus and Canada 's Peerless. The Peerless acquisition made Beaulieu the dominant producer in Canada .

In 1998, Beaulieu created four separate divisions operating under the Beaulieu of America corporate banner: Beaulieu Residential, which consists of the Columbus , Marglen and Coronet brands), Beaulieu Commercial and Beaulieu Fibers.
In 2000, Beaulieu Residential launched its new marketing strategy of licensing brands for its floor covering products, brands such as Laura Ashley & Waverly.

Beaulieu Residential will be extending it’s popular Waverly brand with an exclusive assortment of hand-made, hand-tufted area rugs. The Waverly Rug Collection were introduced to floor covering retailers at Surfaces 2001 held in Las Vegas Jan. 31 – Feb. 2, 2001.

The collection will be labeled under The Luxury Collection, Waverly’s top end collection for fabrics, carpet, and rugs. The rugs will be merchandised to fit into existing Waverly Galleries, currently featuring broadloom carpet only, and have been developed to exclusively coordinate with the entire Waverly line of domestics.

The Waverly Luxury Collection of rugs includes 20 different patterns of three different qualities of hand-made wool rugs with several of the patterns based on exclusive Waverly fabric designs. Of the collection, seven are hand-tufted, Full Cut rugs; eight are hand-tufted, hand-hooked Petit Point rugs; and five are hand-tufted, hand-hooked Microhook rugs for the most colorful and detailed designs. Three of the Microhook rugs include silk accents for the ultimate in luxury and sophistication.

The Waverly Rug patterns range from traditional to contemporary with several very formal looks. Beaulieu Residential designers worked hand-in-hand with Waverly stylists to develop the collection. The rugs are available in nominal 6 x 9 and 9 x 12 sizes and sold through participating Waverly Carpet Galleries nationwide. Retail price points on the rugs range from $400.00 to $1400.00.
