Troy, N.C. — Luxurious traditional hand knots, artfully abstract machine mades and a new collection of contemporary rugs made from recycled PET polyester yarns are among the creative new designs that Capel Rugs will be debuting at the summer markets in Atlanta and Las Vegas.

Among the highlights is Charise, an upscale, hand knotted traditional collection from India featuring classic motifs updated for today's lifestyles. The 100% wool rugs are available in eight patterns and color ways: Isfahan in sand, Kazak in blue multi, Keshan in champagne, Mahal in dark chocolate, Peshawar in slate ruby, Tabriz in fog blue, Ushak in scarlet and Ziegler in terra cotta. The versatile collection comes in 3' x 5', 5' x 8', 8' x 10' and 9' x 12' sizes. A 5' x 8' rug may retail for under $1,149.

"We're seeing an uptick in demand for better-end goods with a strong value proposition, and Charise fits that niche perfectly," said Cameron Capel, president -- sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. "With its beautiful, shaded colors and timeless themes, Charise provides a step-up look that's still very affordable."

At the same time that it is strengthening the higher end of its line, Capel Rugs also is bringing out a variety of new designs in the more promotionally priced range. Introductions include Doodles, a collection of machine made modern rugs sporting abstract squiggle designs inspired by the popular art of doodling. Made on Wilton looms in Belgium, the Doodles rugs are made of 90% olefin and 10% viscose. The rugs are available in three colorways -- ivory, onyx and raven -- and three sizes -- 5'3" x 7'6", 7'10" x 10'10" and 9'2" x 12'9". A 5'3" x 7'6" rug may retail for under $449.

Also new to the Capel Rugs line this summer is Landis, an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary rugs that are machine made of 100% olefin in Turkey. Cross woven with self-fringe, Landis features eight different designs: Abstract in blue multi and stone multi; Heriz in mica; Isfahan in charcoal and slate blue; Kazak in blue mist, century blue, classic red and champagne blue; Keshan in cerulean blue and crimson/navy; Kirman in ivory, Panel in multi; and Ushak in ivory blue. The rugs are available in a 2'6" x 8' runner as well as 3'3" x 4'10", 5'1" x 7'5", 8' x 10' and 9' x 12' sizes. A 5'1" x 7'5" model may retail for under $249.

Mineral, another new machine made collection, features a deep, shag-like 1.5" pile height. Made in the United States of 100% olefin yarns, the collection includes three organic, nature-influenced designs -- Flamestitch, Marble and Wave -- in a total of seven color ways. A 5'3" x 7'6" rug may retail for under $560.

Also slated for introduction in Atlanta and Las Vegas is Burke, a new contemporary collection made from 100% PET yarns recycled from plastic bottles. The collection is hand loomed with double-back quality in India to deliver an easy-care, high-performance rug with a thick, lush pile. The collection comes in three colorways -- aegean, charcoal and stone -- and four sizes -- 3'6" x 5'6", 5' x 8', 8'x 11' and 9' x 13'. A 5' x 8' rug may retail for under $649.

"We think retailers will impressed by all of the exciting new designs we have in store for market," Capel said. "At our opening price points, we continue to expand the range of what's possible with our machine made designs. And at the higher end, we're expanding our assortment of luxurious traditional and transitional hand knots. Most of these new rugs will be available for shipping by October or soon after, making them a great way to freshen up floors as we head into the holidays."

During the summer markets, Capel Rugs also will feature six well-received collections introduced at the April High Point Market that are being shown for the first time in Atlanta and Las Vegas. They include:

Finesse Motif
Inspired by a design motif in the Billiard and Breakfast rooms of Biltmore House, the historic estate built by George Vanderbilt in Asheville, N.C., Finesse Motif from the Biltmore® For Your Home collection features an elegant border surrounding a soft scroll interior pattern in four colorways -- sage, charcoal, noir and barley.

Lineage
A new collection of four machine-made designs in 100% New Zealand wool. Available in a total of four contemporized colorways, this new collection features four traditional-leaning designs, including two geometrics.

LM HOME
A new collection of four braided rugs with casual, classic Americana themes created in collaboration with the Laurel Mercantile (LM) Home brand and its furniture partner, Vaughan-Bassett. Capel Rugs' LM Home offerings include four models, each with different constructions and colorways.

Nomad
A new collection of hand knotted transitional designs with an abstract pattern made in India of 100% New Zealand wool. The semi-worsted collection features an open knot construction with a plush high/low pile. Three colorways are available -- ivory/grey, ivory/navy and ivory/chestnut.

Seagrove
Inspired by ceramic glazes found throughout Seagrove, an acclaimed pottery center near Capel's North Carolina headquarters, this easy-care flat woven rug features a reversible design in 100% textured polypropylene. The collection is Made in the USA in five colorways -- steel, oyster, multi, wedgewood and seagrass.

Tribute
Another new addition to the Biltmore® For Your Home collection, Tribute pays homage to the Vanderbilt family's legacy of gathering and gracious living. The collection includes two machine-made designs -- Parlor and Bazaar -- in 100% New Zealand wool.

With the purchase of three or more new rugs sized 5' x 8' or larger made during the summer markets, retailers, designers and other buyers will receive a 20 percent discount. During each day of the shows, Capel Rugs also will serve fresh-roasted Starbucks coffee to its showroom visitors. In the late afternoon, the company will hold a cocktail hour for its guests.

At the Atlanta International Area Rug Market being held July 10 to 14, Capel Rugs will exhibit in AmericasMart Building 1, space 3-D-1. At the Las Vegas Market taking place July 28 to Aug. 1, Capel Rugs will show at World Market Center, Space A-133.
