Licensee Debuts Liven Up Capel's High Point Intros
"Bolder colors are slowly creeping back into today's homes after a period where everything was rather muted and neutral," said Cameron Capel, president - sales and marketing for Capel Rugs, about the current trends in the marketplace. "Demand for quality machine-made wool rugs at a slightly higher price point also is growing, as consumers look for intricate designs with classic patterns but with updated color palettes. We'll be showing lots of exciting new designs in these categories this market, along with some high-value braids and indoor-outdoor rugs."
The indoor/outdoor Finesse Motif is being added to the Biltmore® For Your Home program during April's high point market.
Introductions in the Biltmore® For Your Home program include Finesse Motif, a new pattern being added to the Finesse collection. Inspired by a timeless design motif in the Billiard and Breakfast rooms of Biltmore House, the historic estate built by George Vanderbilt in Asheville, N.C., Finesse Motif features an elegant yet versatile border surrounding a soft scroll interior pattern. Four colorways are available -- sage, charcoal, noir and barley. The collection is machine woven in Belgium of 100% olefin and offered in 3'11" x 5'6", 5'3" x 7'6" and 7'10" x 11' sizes. A 5'3" x 7'6" model may retail for under $149.
In addition, Capel Rugs is introducing a new Biltmore® For Your Home collection at the April 6-10 High Point Market called Tribute that pays homage to the Vanderbilt family's legacy of gathering and gracious living. The collection includes two machine-made designs -- Parlor and Bazaar -- in 100% New Zealand wool. Available in a total of four creative colorways, a 5' x 8' rug may retail for under $749.
"The vibrant colors and playful patterns of the Bazaar rug are reminiscent of the celebrations held in various gardens of the estate over its storied history," said Capel. "Parlor also takes similar inspiration from the rich surroundings of Biltmore, capturing the warm spirit of family and friendship for which the Vanderbilt family has always been so well known."
In the WILLIAMSBURG at Home® line, this market's introductions include the new hand-tufted Clayton collection. Inspired by a mini-print in a late 18th-century swatch book from Manchester, England, that is now in the Colonial Williamsburg design archive, this striking 100% wool rug features graphic, playful shapes in a block print-style pattern. Casual and versatile, Clayton brings personality to any space, from the bedroom to the living room. A zero-pile construction adds to the vintage look, while updated colors make Clayton relevant for today's lifestyles. Three colorways are available -- meadow, greige and bluebell. Available in 5' x 8', 8' x 10' and 9' x 12' sizes, a 5'x 8' size may retail for under $599.
Also making their High Point Market debuts in the Capel Rugs showroom this market will be two new collections recently added to the licensed Genevieve Gorder line -- Brass Belly and Intersection. Inspired by a timeless Art Nouveau design Gorder created for Tempaper, a wallcovering licensing partner, Brass Belly features rows of overlapping scallop shapes presented in duos of harmonious tones. Three colorways are available -- storm, stone and ocean. Constructed in India of 100% wool, Brass Belly is made of space-dyed yarns for extra texture. A 5' x 8' rug may retail for under $449.
Intersection, the other new addition to the Genevieve Gorder line, is a bold geometric design in hand tufted 100% wool. Sporting wide bands of related colors intersecting in a creative zigzag-like pattern, Intersection is offered in three on-trend colorways -- storm, sand and slate. Sourced from India, a 5' x 8' model may retail for under $449.
New Intros for the Capel Rugs Line
At market, Capel Rugs' flagship line also is being expanded with a number of fresh designs. They include:
Lineage, a new collection of four machine-made designs in 100% New Zealand wool. Available in a total of four contemporized colorways, this new collection features four traditional-leaning designs, including two geometrics. A 5' x 8' rug may retail for under $749.
Seagrove, a new easy-care flat woven reversible design. In 100% textured polypropylene, Seagrove features five colorways -- steel, oyster, multi, wedgewood and seagrass. A 5' x 8' rug may retail for under $549.
LM Home, a new collection of four braided rugs created in collaboration with the Laurel Mercantile (LM) Home brand and its creators, Ben and Erin Napier of the popular HGTV "Home Town" TV series. LM Home launched its first two furniture collections last fall with producer Vaughan-Bassett, and at the spring market a third collection in the line is being introduced. Like the furniture, the rugs Capel has designed for the program are made-in-the-USA products with casual, classic Americana themes.
The rug collection includes four models, each with different constructions and colorways. LM Home Stripe is a vertically striped braid in navy-and-tan and scarlet-and-tan colorways. LM Home Classic Wool is a thick, heavy all-wool oval design with a wide tape treatment in a navy- and-cream colorway. LM Home Classic Poly is a classic oval design in a 100% polypropylene construction with a navy colorway, and LM Home Classic Quilt is a unique, rectangular braided vertical design in 50% wool with a quilt-inspired pattern in a navy colorway. A wide range of sizes is available, with price points ranging from $438 to $663 for a 5' x 8' rug.
During market, the LM Home rug collection will be shown in the Capel Rugs' showroom and also in the Vaughan-Bassett showroom in space C-1000 of the International Home Furnishings Center.
Makrana rug in alabaster
A timeless traditional look with a twist, Makrana is being expanded this market with two new colorways -- alabaster and mink. Hand knotted in India of a wool-and-viscose blend with light distressing, this elegant collection comes in 3'6" x 5'6", 5'6" x 8'6", 8' x 10' and 9' x 12' sizes. A 5'6" x 8'6" rug may retail for $1,799.
Tasanee rug in amber multi
This new contemporary collection that features an abstract, painterly feeling, is making its High Point debut. Hand knotted in India, Tasanee is a wool construction with a touch of viscose for added depth and sheen. Three colorways are available, including ocean, morning dove and amber multi (pictured). A 5' x 8' model may retail for under $1,999.
To promote its latest designs, Capel Rugs is offering a 20% discount on new rugs sized 5'x 8' or larger purchased during market with a minimum order size. Also each day during market, Capel Rugs will be serving fresh-roasted Starbucks coffee to its showroom visitors. In the late afternoon, the company will hold a cocktail hour for attendees.
