New Anthony Baratta Line Wins Rave Reviews for Capel Rugs
TROY, N.C. -- Capel Rugs' new line of licensed rugs created in partnership with famed designer Anthony Baratta drew rave reviews from retailers and designers at the Oct. 14-18 High Point Market.

"Everyone loved this new line and the spirit it conveys," said Cameron Capel, vice president of national accounts for Capel Rugs. "Because many of the designs have a nautical or resort theme, the line was particularly well received by customers who are located near the coast, but it also did well with retailers in the Midwest and cities like Chicago and Denver."

Flags
The new Anthony Baratta line is one of the most comprehensive launches Capel has ever made in terms of the range of constructions and price points that are represented. The line includes two collections of hand tufted designs in wool and viscose; an indoor/outdoor collection of five loop pile designs in olefin; a collection of two easy-care plaid designs made of eco-friendly, green product from reconditioned fibers, appropriate for indoor or outdoor use and reversible for twice the life span; two braided collections -- one in wool and the other in polypropylene; and an additional braided collection in polypropylene with loop hook centers. All of the designs feature Baratta's signature mix of Americana-inspired themes in a bold, bright palette.

"Retailers loved the clever combinations of materials, colors and textures in these designs that Tony has created," said Capel. She added that the new line will begin shipping to stores in January of 2018.

Baratta was available for a meet-and-greet session with retailers during a kickoff party for the new collection held on Sunday, Oct. 15 in the Capel showroom. The event marked the final toast for Capel Rugs' 100th anniversary, which the company has been celebrating throughout the year.

FLOWER POP
Also in the Capel Rugs showroom for two days during market was Genevieve Gorder, who added new designs to her popular rug line at the show. Additions included two new designs in the Finesse collection -- Mali Cloth and NY Toile -- and Flower Pop, a cheerful hand tufted design in four colorways that matches a best-selling fabric design Gorder created for P/Kaufmann.

"Both additions to the Genevieve Gorder line were hits," said Capel, "as were our latest additions to the licensed WILLIAMSBURG At Home® line -- Finesse Bamboo Trellis and Everard Damask."

An addition to Capel's Finesse collection of indoor-outdoor rugs, Bamboo Trellis is a striking geometric design in five colorways that captures the special feeling of the historic Colonial Williamsburg Gardens. The other new Williamsburg design -- Everhard Damask -- is a lovely floral design in three colorways inspired by vintage Williamsburg fabrics.

Capel's own line of fashion-forward rugs also added an assortment of new patterns and constructions that found favor with retailers at the October market. They included:

Four stunning new hand knotted collections made in India:

Astbury, a delicately distressed transitional design in 100% New Zealand wool with three colorways; Capital, a traditional floral in 100% wool in three bold colorways; Makrana: a distressed, traditional pattern in a wool and viscose blend with four fashionable colorways; and Pinnacle, a colorful transitional collection with a distinctive ombré look in 100% wool with two colorways.

ORBIT
Orbit: A unique contemporary statement with a vivid swirl-shaped design in three colorways, Orbit is made in India of 100% wool using loop pile yarns.

SPENCER
Spencer: Made in Belgium of 100% New Zealand wool on Axminister looms, Spencer features three traditional-styled patterns, each in two colorways.

Fuego: Machine woven in Turkey of 100% olefin, Fuego generated kudos for its eye-catching contemporary design and five on-trend colorways.

Reece: Understated and subtle, the new Reece collection fills a niche for customers looking for attractive rugs that easily blend into a room. Machine woven in Belgium of 60% olefin and 40% polyester, Reece comes in four colorways.

"We always try to provide our retailers with an assortment of fresh designs in a range of styles, constructions and price points," Capel said. "Today's market is so diverse that it's important to offer lots of creative choices."
