Ecore Employees Donate to Help Victims of Hurricanes Harvey & Maria
Lancaster, PA (Oct. 6, 2017) – Following the widespread devastation of Hurricane Harvey, Ecore felt a calling to help. The Pennsylvania-based company, which transforms reclaimed materials into performance surfaces that make people’s lives better, wasn’t content with just giving money. It went a step further by launching a companywide effort that engaged employees and boosted the company’s support as well as its team spirit.

“Many Ecore customers, vendors and family members of Ecore employees were impacted by the horrible devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey,” said Arthur Dodge, III, CEO and president of Ecore. “We immediately made a financial donation on behalf of the company to the American Red Cross, but we wanted to find a way for employees to contribute as well. One of our employees informed us about a relief effort being coordinated by a family member’s church in Houston, and we knew we had found our outlet.”

Ecore kicked off an internal donation drive in September, where employees were encouraged to contribute essential personal and household supplies, as well as non-perishable food items. The company placed skids in six designated areas at its Lancaster, York and Centerville, Pa., facilities, where employees could drop off items to be sent to the Church of Champions.

From sleeping bags and cots to baby wipes and macaroni and cheese, employees donated 1,806 pounds worth of items. The supplies are on their way to Texas thanks to Ecore’s carrier Elite Express, who provided Ecore with a discounted shipping rate to transport the donations to the Church of Champions. Once there, the Church will divide up the donations and send half of the items to victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

“The Church of Champions is allowing us to help victims of both storms,” said Dodge. “And the generosity of our employees is truly amazing.”

About Ecore
Since 1871, Ecore has been transforming reclaimed waste into unique surfaces that make people’s lives better. What started with simple cork closures has evolved into a diverse portfolio of products solving complex problems in applications ranging from playgrounds, weight rooms, and turf fields to hospitals, hotels, and retail environments. Ecore is driven everyday by a simple question, “Can a floor do more?” YES. At Ecore, we create products based on the simple notion that floors should elevate beyond current expectations. Ecore’s energy is focused on the interaction between people and the surface. As a result, we engineer performance well beyond industry standards related to acoustics, ergonomics, and safety. Harvesting the unique power from a myriad of waste streams, Ecore creates products that align–substantial force reduction with a balanced amount of energy return to create dynamic surfaces that are catered to the individual and the application.
