In our efforts as a non-profit organization to bring only the best in advanced science-based flooring education, the Guild is offering a unique training opportunity. We have acquired the educational services of Mr. Noah Chitty. Mr. Chitty is the former Laboratory Director at the (Ceramic) Tile Council of America (TCA). He held this position after graduating with a BS Degree in Ceramic Engineering while continuing his post-graduate studies in Ceramic Engineering from Clemson University. To date, we have 24 students committed to the class to be presented in Dalton, GA. The tuition will be $175.00. That means that if you are a member of the WFCA, your cost to attend this class is only $87.50 with your matching WFCA scholarship funding. Other associations or schools would be charging three to four times this. Inspectors, retailers and distributors can visit their contacts in Dalton, the nation's center of all types of flooring manufacturing, to promote their services or businesses. Mr. Chitty will be instructing us on the following topics: • Manufacturing of Ceramic Tile and Ceramic Terms • How to Identify Different Types of Ceramic Tile • Manufacturing Standards • How to apply these standards to each different type of tile and installation method • How to interpret the Manufacturing Standards and how to do field measurements of the Standards on tiles • Identification of Manufacturing Concerns and Issues by Industry Standards to help educate YOU to improve the industry and assist in expanding your business and increasing your profits Installation Standards How to read and apply the many different installation methods and standards for different locations and environments; and which tiles should be specified. Patches and Self-leveling Compounds and Tiles The last afternoon of the two-day class will feature Ardex's own Mr. Bruce Newbrough, who will instruct us on the self-leveling and patching compounds; how to use them and their interaction with concrete moisture issues and tiles. Mr. Chris Bierschank from Mapei will give an industry approved presentation for thin tile that will further our knowledge and education on these tiles that are growing more popular. Use this opportunity to visit your contacts in Dalton. Don't hesitate to take them to lunch and dinner. To date four manufacturers have committed to attend the class. Six others have expressed interest as well as a few distributors.
