The Simpson Furniture and Floor Covering Company was founded in downtown Cedar Falls. R.L. Simpson and his wife, Rena, moved from Des Moines where R.L. worked at a Des Moines retailer. Simpson was a WW II veteran who served in the Battle of the Bulge and had the fire to own his own future.

Shortly after buying out an existing furniture company Simpson along his wife and the addition longtime past president, David Sandvold, lead the Simpson name to the top of the Cedar Falls-Waterloo furniture and flooring ladder.

Throughout the next 70 plus years the Simpson name grew and expanded with the leadership of Simpson, Sandvold, former president and CEO, David Olson and current owner Dale Emmert. These men all had one major value in common-The customer is the only reason we are here and we must never lose sight of keeping our valued, loyal customers happy.

After serving Northeast Iowa for 70 years the Simpson Company closed their furniture operation in 2016 and the stores became Art Van Furniture showrooms. Art Van is one of the largest furniture retailers in the US.

At this time Simpson maintained their floor covering department and staff and continued to offer outstanding selections with value pricing and maybe most important -professional installation and our LOWEST price promise!

In July we moved our showroom from the Main Street location to 6027 University Avenue, Suite #300. We are located right next to the ITech store between Kohl's and the College Sq Mall in Cedar Falls.
